Bently Nevada 9200 Seismoprobe Velocity Transducer Overview
Velocity Sensing for Casing and Machine-Frame Vibration
Bently Nevada offers this velocity-sensing technology in two designs. Velomitor sensors are solid-state and are generally the recommended choice for most modern installations, while Seismoprobe (moving-coil) sensors are less sensitive to impact or impulsive excitation, a property suited to certain rugged or portable applications, and withstand up to 50 g of shock along the non-sensitive axis. The 9200 is rated for continuous operation from -29°C to +121°C, comfortably covering outdoor installations through a Canadian winter, while the high-temperature 74712 variant extends that range to -29°C to +204°C.
The 9200 connects to a Bently Nevada 3300 or 3500 monitor over as much as 305 meters (1,000 feet) of cable, and when ordered with the integral cable option, it resists corrosive environments without additional protection, an advantage for outdoor and coastal installations. Both the 9200 and 74712 are available with cNRTLus and ATEX/IECEx hazardous-area certifications for Class I, Zone 2 installations.

FAQ
What Buyers Ask About the Bently Nevada 9200 Seismoprobe Velocity Transducer
It measures casing and machine-frame vibration using velocity sensing, giving maintenance teams data to detect bearing wear, imbalance, or misalignment on rotating equipment such as motors, fans, and pumps.
The 3300 measures shaft position and vibration directly using eddy current proximity sensing between a probe and the rotating shaft. The 9200 instead measures casing vibration from the outside using a velocity sensor. The two are complementary and are often used together on the same machine.
Velomitor sensors are solid-state and are generally the recommended choice for most modern installations. Seismoprobe (moving-coil) sensors are less sensitive to impact or impulsive excitation, which suits certain rugged applications, and withstand up to 50 g of shock along the non-sensitive axis.
The 9200 is rated for continuous operation from -29°C to +121°C, a range that comfortably covers outdoor installations through a Canadian winter. The high-temperature 74712 variant extends that range to -29°C to +204°C.
The 74712 is the high-temperature version of the same 9200 Seismoprobe design, rated to +204°C versus the standard 9200’s +121°C, built for applications where ambient or process temperatures exceed the standard unit’s rating.
Yes. Both the 9200 and 74712 carry cNRTLus and ATEX/IECEx certifications for Class I, Zone 2 hazardous-area installations, and both are dust and moisture resistant.
It converts the raw velocity signal from a Seismoprobe or accelerometer into a standardized output for monitoring or protection systems.
Yes. Seismoprobes and accelerometers are commonly installed on the same machine as a Bently Nevada 3500 rack, adding casing vibration data alongside the shaft position data from 3300 or 3300 XL probes.
The 9200 remains in active use across existing plant installations, and components are available through independent industrial supply channels, including Instrubiz. Contact our team with your specific part number to confirm current availability.
Yes, duty-paid, door-to-door delivery is available across Canada, with particular experience serving manufacturing facilities in Ontario and oil sands operations in Alberta.
